National e Governance Plan has been formulated with a view to improve the quality of basic governance and Assessment is one of the critical 8 components of NeGP to assess the impact of projects that have high citizen interface. e-Government projects are inherently complex and large amounts of resources are being invested in e-Government projects across the world especially in developing countries. It has therefore become imperative that a robust assessment strategy is devised for the existing e-Government projects that not only provides valuable understanding on individual projects but also provides for a backward integration into the process of project appraisal and capacity building.
In addition to assessment of projects, DeitY also undertakes e-Readiness Assessment of States and Union Territories.
