Achievements of Cyber Security R&D funded projects

Tools and Technologies developed in Cyber Security Research and Development funded projects under Grants in Aid fund, in the niche areas of cyber security including IOT, development of cyber forensic tools and threat intelligence. Major technologies developed are listed as following:

  • Early warning system (Amrita University): Unified platform comprising the capabilities of
      • Big Data Security Information and Event Management System (SIEM)
      • Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR)
      • User Entity and Behaviour Analytics (UEBA) enhanced with Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Engines
      • Cyber Threat Intelligence & Incident Management. [Deployed at 20 major locations at different ISPs]
  • JARA- a hybrid opensource deployment-ready intrusion detection system that includes both emerging-threat signatures and the pre-trained proposed neural-network model for knowledge-based and behavior-based intrusion detection The USP of the product is deployment centric threat detection which is light-weight and maintenance of the product is very easy which will result a long product life after deployment. (SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur).
  • Vishleshak (CDAC Hyderabad) - tool for threat evaluation of mobile applications.
  • M-Kavach (CDAC Hyderabad) – detection of malicious activities in mobile device. So far more than 8 lakhs+ downloads from Google play store.
  • StegoCheck V6.0.0.0 (CDAC Kolkata) - a signature based steganalysis software suite
  • Threat Intelligence Tool - Network Telescope (CSIR Bangalore).
  • Cyber forensics products (CDAC Thiruvananthapuram) – 3000 + copies of these tools deployed at various institutes, law enforcement agencies. These tools are deployed at different strategic agencies including IB, DyCA, CERT-In, State Police force and Military agencies.
  • Established National Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security (NCOE), so far 200 + startups are nurtured and accelerated. (DSCI Noida).
  • Establishment of STEaLTh (CDAC Hyderabad) – Security Testing and Evaluation Lab for IoT Devices & Embedded Systems. Handbook of IoT Device Security Testing Procedures.
  • Cyber Forensics Labs with modern facilities has been created in all 8 NE states namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. (NIELIT Kohima)
  • Malware and Malware-based attack Detection Using Statistical and Machine Learning Approach
  • Network Telescope Feed for Threat Intelligence Generation
  • Efforts / activities in North Eastern (NE) States - initiative as per NE Vision 2023 has been taken, with the broad vision of providing cyber-crime investigation skills effectively through projects: Initiative for Cyber Security Aware Society in NE States & Development of Cyber Forensic Training cum Investigation Labs in North-Eastern States and Cloud based Centralized Cyber Forensics Lab Infrastructure.
  • National COE Cyber Security technology development and entrepreneurship
