A number of cross-disciplinary multi-institutional research activities have been initiated on various themes Researchers of diverse backgrounds from various organizations (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Cognitive Science and Neuro-Sciences) have collaborated together to build the broad framework of activity in the field of Perception Engineering. Technology developments and research was taken up motivated by the models of perception and cognition by analysis and understanding of the human perception and cognition processes.

Asynchronous audio, video and hand-writing based multi-media communication system and tele teaching system developed. - Perception Driven Video-Conferencing:
A multimedia conferencing system, motivated by the features of human cognition architecture, is conceived and designed. Different research groups developed technology for different aspects of the conferencing system. Remote conferencing facility for the visually challenged was a unique aspect of explorations in this area.

Quantification of Visuospatial Perception in mild Alzheimer (AD) and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) patients and control subjects using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technique - Spatiotemporal Dynamics of the Neural System:
Information Tensorial Analysis of Brain Connectivity in Functional Neuroimaging with clinical applicability. From the point of brain imaging signal analysis, we have shown how in the two-phase anisotropic structured tissue material, such as the porous substance with a fluid, the different transport processes----properties as conduction, volume perfusion or permeation----are inter-related due to boundary conditions of the tissue geometry.

Centre for Development of Advance Computing, Kolkata has coordinated development of application specific deliverables like E-Nose and E-Tongue based black tea quality monitoring system. Both the systems have been developed and installed at various Tea Gardens. - Olfaction (e-Nose) Driven Mobile Robot:
Central Electronic Engineering Research Institute, Pilani developed a wireless mobile robotic platform with an electronic nose to sense dangerous gases. Electronic nose can be remotely controlled. It is expected to be used for monitoring gas levels in underground mines.
